The dark rich colors of coffee offset by the white swirls of a rich cream. Now you're sipping from the "Cosmic Cliffs in the Carina Nebula" a James Webb Telescope composite photo of infra-red images.
That’s a simple explanation of a scientific cooperative miracle representing the best of mankind’s cooperative endeavors. The NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) is on NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope and was built by a team at the University of Arizona and Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Center.
Way back in 1826, almost 200 years ago, James Dunlop catalogued NGC 3324, roughly 7,600 light-years away, located at the northwest corner of the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), which resides in the constellation Carina, which is visible in the Southern Hemisphere here on Earth. The Carina Nebula is home to the Keyhole Nebula and the active, unstable supergiant star called Eta Carinae.
What looks much like craggy mountains on a moonlit evening is actually the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region NGC 3324 in the Carina Nebula.
The ‘Cosmic Cliffs’ are really the edge of a gas cavity, created by high-energy ultra-violet radiation wearing down the walls, and stellar winds from hot young stars in the center of the cavity
All the activity is ionized hot gases and dust streaming away due to that radiation. There's a blowout of gas and dust, an unusual arch formation, bubbles and cavities resulting from the violent star formation activity. It only lasts less than 100,000 years, less than a flicker of galactic time, but we scientists working together for decades were able to capture it.
- 11 ounces. A standard American Coffee size is 8 ounces (slightly higher in Europe), while the general consensus of the Tea community is that a cup of Tea is only 6 ounces. So you have room for cream, a spoon, or a teabag.

- Dishwasher Safe for easy cleanup. Remember, dishwashers use less water than handwashing.
- White High-Gloss Ceramic, with colored interior and handle. The high gloss brings out the colors better.
- C-handle for a comfortable, easy grip
- We used an eye-catching color contrast, with colors chosen to go with the composite photo.
